Auditions for A Midsummer Night's Dream - May 7th and 8th

Menomonie Theater Guild is thrilled to announce auditions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream!

Ope! In the northwoods of Wisconsin, two teens run away to escape controlling parents. What awaits them in the woods? A group of tired community theater actors rehearsing their next show, a couple of old friends, some mischievous fawns and their fairy king and queen, and hang on? Is that a donkey? Join this motley crew on their intertwining adventures as they learn the old lesson that only Shakespeare could teach so well: "The course of true love never did run smooth."

Auditions will be welcoming and fun!

Folks auditioning should please prepare a Shakespearean monologue of their choosing.

Monologues are speeches made by a single actor on stage- often, the character is explaining an idea to others or pondering a concept to themselves.

For auditions, the monologue need not be memorized, but should be well-rehearsed.

For children, I recommend either Romeo's or Juliet's monologues (Juliet: "Oh, Romeo, Romeo," and Romeo's "But soft! What light from yonder window breaks?").

Rehearsals:

Expect rehearsals to be Monday-Thursday from approximately 5:30-8:30, depending on the cast and rehearsal needs.

Please bring a tentative list of dates of your availability to auditions.

Character List:

The Mechanicals: Quince, Bottom, Flute, Starveling, Snout, Snug (Adults Age 30+ if possible)

The Couples: Lysander, Hermia, Helena, Demetrius (Young Adults Age 17-25)

The Fairies: Puck (Teen), 1st Fairy, 2nd Fairy, Peaseblossom, Cobweb, Moth, Mustardseed (Children)

The Royals: King Oberon, Queen Titania (Adults 30+)
