Following an accidental fire that damaged three apartment units at Stepping Stones of Dunn County family shelter on Broadway Street, the organization is now moving forward with recovery efforts. Stepping Stones Shelter program serves over 200 individuals each year, including adults and children, and provided over ten thousand nights of shelter in 2025. UW Valleys is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026 OBT Community Responsive Fund process. In partnership with the Otto Bremer Trust, United Way St. Croix and Red Cedar Valleys will continue to help direct critical funding to local nonprofits serving the six-county region. Around 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, an individual identified as Mason Douglas Barth was discovered deceased on UW-Stout’s campus near Bowman Hall.
