Vance E. Grimm
Vance E. Grimm, 37 of Elk Mound, WI, passed away Monday August 17th 2026. He was born August 6th, 1989 in Harlingen, TX to Keith and Guadalupe (Gonzalez) Grimm. He grew up in Elk Mound where he attended and graduated from Elk Mound High School. Vance married Shyanda Konsela on July 15th 2015 in Elk Mound, WI. City of Menomonie lawn irrigation ban extended to October 31, 2026
The Menomonie City Council approved extending the full lawn irrigation ban until October 31, 2026, at its meeting on Monday, August 17th. There are several exemptions from the full lawn irrigation ban, including: Watering cans, handheld sprayers, drip irrigation, and soaker hoses may be used. New lawn areas may be irrigated for up to 28 days to allow for establishment. Outdoor sport fields may be irrigated. Non-municipal water sources (i.e. private wells or surface waters

Governor Evers approves WIS 29 Red Cedar River Bridge project
Construction includes replacing the joints on the bridge on Menomonie’s south side To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $400,000 contract with prime contractor Zenith Tech, Inc. of Waukesha for a project rehabilitating the bridge that carries WIS 29 over the Red Cedar River in the Dunn County city of Menomonie. Ramona A. Sobottka
Ramona A. Sobottka, age 85, of Knapp, WI, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire, surrounded by her family. Ramona was born November 30, 1940, in Durand, WI, to Edward Zeilinger and Leona (Yarrington) Zeilinger. She grew up in Durand and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Lima in 1958.
