Sunrise Rotary honors Ellie Zydowsky as September Youth of the Month

By John Wilkerson

The Menomonie Sunrise Rotary Club is pleased to recognize Ellie Zydowsky, a senior at Menomonie High School, as a September 2026 Youth of the Month.

Zydowsky has served as a Link Leader for two years, helping freshmen transition to high school and making students feel welcomed, included, and connected. She possesses a willingness to recognize when students need additional support and take action. When appropriate, she connects students with Student Services to ensure they receive assistance. She also helps with Link Crew, gives tours to new students, and steps in wherever help is needed.

She is a captain of the Girls Swim and Dive team and credits swimming with teaching her hard work, discipline, and perseverance. Her leadership also extends into the community. She advanced from lifeguard to manager at Wakanda Water Park, where she learned to remain calm under pressure, handle unexpected problems, and support her team.

She also announces baseball games, lifeguards for early morning lap swimming at Menomonie High School, and volunteers at community events.

After graduation, Zydowsky plans to attend a four-year college and is still considering her field of study. Long term, she hopes to build a life centered on a solid career, strong family connections, and giving back to her community.
