Mustangs Win Streak Versus Old Abes Continues -- 26 Straight

Menomonie, WI - The Menomonie Mustangs steamrolled the Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes 42-7 on homecoming night from Williams Stadium. DJ Butler touched paydirt three times in the crossover conference win that extended Menomonie's winning streak over Eau Claire Memorial to 26 games.

After Menomonie scored on their opening possesion, Jake Anderson intercepted Old Abes quarterback Aaron Gundlach on their second offensive play from scrimmage. It set up the Mustangs with a short field and DJ Butler capitalized again, this time form 4 yards out. The Mustangs would not look back.

At the break, Menomonie led 28-0.

The Mustangs defense shined for the second straight week. After allowing just 70 total yards against Superior a week ago, the Mustangs surrended only 72 yards against Memorial -- 54 of those coming on one scoring play. Menomonie's defense pushed back the Old Abes multiple times with numerous tackles for loss and sacks.

Menomonie was able to get most, if not all, uniformed players into the game in the second half of the contest.

The 2025 Menomonie High School athletic hall of fame inductees were honored at halftime. The list includes:

The win moves Menomonie to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in conference. Eau Claire Memorial drops to 0-6 and 0-4 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Menomonie stays at home next week as New Richmond comes to town.
