Mustangs Do Everything Right in Blowout Win

Superior, WI - The Menomonie Mustangs dominated the Superior Spartans from the start in a 42-6 blowout win. In the first half, Superior did not run a play in Menomonie territory and the Mustangs defense allowed just one first down.

The Mustangs offense trampled over the Spartans defense with the old style, power I formation. Menomonie finished with 249 yards on the ground and only threw two passes during the game.

DJ Butler continued to display his talents from the backfield. He totaled 98 yards on 14 carries and found the endzone three times, giving him a total of seven on the season. Fellow backfield mates, Renner Stoll and Luke Pember also touched paydirt.

The Mustangs defense tallied multiple tackles for loss and continually put Superior in third and long situations. Menomonie also turned Superior over on downs twice in the big win. Menomonie held Superior to just 70 total yards and allowed only three first downs in the game.

The win improves Menomonie to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in conference. Superior is still looking for their first victory posing a 0-5 overall and 0-3 conference record.

Menomonie hosts Eau Claire Memorial for their homecoming game next week. The Mustangs will finish their season with three of four homes games. Chippewa Falls travels to Superior for a matchup between the bottom teams in the standings.
