Come create with us!

Our MAKE IT! series is back.  Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m., we offer awesome activities in Fulton's Workshop.

Each will have a focus or theme, but you can also come and explore the workshop if the planned activity doesn't interest you, there are plenty of other things that might, including micro:bit hands-on, our new Lego Wall, cardboard construction, magnet wall challenge, wind tunnel and many more. Come and explore!

Come explore hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) projects for all ages!

We want to:

• Create a fun, interactive learning environment 

• Emphasize imagination and creativity 

• Make curious and thoughtful learners 

Come at any point to participate.  

Free for museum members. Regular admission rate for non-members.

MAKE IT! Schedule

August 6:  Tangram and Pattern Puzzle Lab  Explore tangrams, geometric pattern puzzles, and visual problem-solving challenges. A tangram is an ancient Chinese puzzle. It turns a square into seven smaller geometric shapes, called "tans.” You use all seven pieces to make pictures like animals, people or letters. 

August 13:  Zentangle and Mandala Pattern Art   Create detailed line art using repeating shapes, calm patterning and circular mandala designs. Zentangle involves drawing structured, repetitive patterns—known as "tangles" focusing on the process rather than the outcome. Mandala patterns are symmetrical geometric designs organized around a central core, representing the universe, wholeness and connection.  

August 20:  Wakanda Park Nature Scavenger Hunt    Gather the whole family and explore the park we call home. Back at Fulton’s Workshop we’ll post our findings on a Natural History Chart. We’ll also introduce our ‘Dunn County Finders” app.

August 27:  Build a Paper Automaton  Create a simple moving paper machine using hand-turned mechanisms such as cams, sliders, or tabs. By turning a small paper handle, you rotate an internal axle (or crank) that pushes vertical shafts up and down, making paper characters move, wave or dance.
