Edwin "Ed" A. Johnson

Edwin A. Johnson, age 84 of Colfax, WI, passed away July 31, 2025 at his home.

He was born August 25, 1940 to Alma (Reitz) and Carl Johnson and grew up in Elmwood, WI.

Ed married Irene Phillips on January 11, 1960 and they were blessed with three children, Ranie, Lisa and Eddy. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, which included fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Irene; two daughters, Ranie Smeltzer and Lisa Van Dusartz (Brian Elling); and one son, Edwin “Eddy” Johnson (Tim Fritz). He is also lovingly remembered by his 7 grandchildren, 19 (soon to be 20) great-grandchildren; sisters, Marlene Kern and Marjorie Branshaw; sisters-in-law, Avis Johnson and Dolly Johnson; brother-in-law, Russell (Mandy) Phillips; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Carl Johnson; brothers, Donald, and Carl Jr. (Casey); an infant sister, Dorothy; his mother and father in-law, Mavis and Jesse Phillips, son-in-law, Randy Smeltzer along with brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI.
