The City of Menomonie is providing the following afternoon update regarding  the water system:

  • The City appreciates the steps that users have taken to reduce water consumption.

  • Based upon the water levels in the elevated towers, which continue to rise, all portions of the water system service area have water pressure. Some areas may have trapped air that will need to be “burped”. Residents may encounter sputtering air in their water fixtures.

  • The Precautionary Boil/Bottle Water Advisory will remain in effect until at least Friday. City crews have tested the water in each higher elevation area to confirm the absence of  bacteria. Test results will be available early afternoon on Friday. Any changes to the  Boil/Bottle Water Advisory status will be issued in a press release like this one.

  • Kwik Trip and Walmart contributed 35 pallets of bottled water, with more on the way (Thank You!). This bottled water is available for City Resident pickup at the Community  Services Shop at 621 11th Avenue West (near the STH 29 Red Cedar River bridge) through 7pm today (Thursday) and from 8am to 7pm tomorrow (Friday). If you are unable to drive or carry a case of water, please contact Megen Hines at 715.232.2221  ext 1005 to be placed on a delivery list.

  • The full irrigation ban remains in effect until August 1, 2026. City crews have, and will continue to, provide written warnings to those who continue to irrigate.

  • Additional updates will be provided Friday morning, Friday afternoon, and until the water system has returned to normal operations.
