Beverly Jean Railton, age 84 of Menomonie, WI passed away on 3/18/2025 at her home.
She was born on 9/01/1940 to Hans & Coral Peterson in Bloomer Wisconsin. Bev and the family moved to Sand Creek, Wisconsin when she was 1 year old. They attended Our Saviors Lutheran Church (Sand Creek), and she went to grade school at Good Luck School and Fox Settlement. Bev graduated from Colfax High School in 1958. She was blessed with three brothers and two sisters. Mom recalls that music was a big part of their lives with piano and guitar. Every Saturday night they would gather around the radio and listen to the Grand Ole Opry, until mom (Grandma Pete) would call their name for baths and the girls getting their hair washed and set in rollers. Sunday was church and Sunday school.
She worked at Chetek Industries, Barthens Cafe in Bloomer, Holtons Bakery in Colfax, for Dr David Frogner in Colfax, for 3M in Menomonie for 22 years until she retired, and the Village Cleaners in Menomonie.
The highlights of her life are her two sons Craig & Robbie, 5 grandchildren Samantha, Travis, Tyler, Jared and Madison, and most recently her first great grandchild Colton.
Bev was preceded in death by parents Hans and Coral Peterson, brothers Dennis, Robert and Russell Peterson, sister Shirley Lee, sisters-in-law Audrey Peterson and Donna Peterson, brothers-in-law Aaron Lee and Jim Webb, nephews Wayne Peterson, Mike Webb, Rick Muldoon, Jeff Peterson and David Peterson (Godchild) and her niece Kathy Evans (Godchild).
Bev loved to, in earlier times, bowl in leagues at Colfax and Bloomer and attend dances around the area. She also didn't miss a high school sporting event while her boys were in high school. Bev always loved to plant her flowers in the spring & summer and of course decorate for every holiday. She was an avid cook and baker, loved to entertain family during the holidays and especially on Christmas with her infamous Norwegian meatballs, riced potatoes, lefse, homemade kahlua and holiday baked goods. Bev had the opportunity to travel and visit her sons & families on trips and at their homes in: England, Alaska, Hawaii, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Wyoming, Florida, Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina and Minnesota. She even got to celebrate the births of her 2 granddaughters: Samantha (Alaska) and Madison (California). Every Sunday would be Packer Day and you could find mom dressed in Packers gear and in her chair waiting for the game to begin.
Bev was active in the Church and loved her Church family. She belonged to Colfax Lutheran Church and then Faith Lutheran Church in Menomonie. She has been a Sunday School Teacher, part of the Ladies Guild and Women of Faith.
Bev is survived by her sons Craig (Dayna) Railton (Menomonie Wi), and Robbie Railton (Menomonie Wi), Grandchildren: Travis Seames (Seattle Wa), Samantha (Tommy) Abernethy (Newport News Va) Tyler Ferrero (New York NY), Jared Railton (Menomonie Wi), and Madison Jean Railton (Van Nuys, Ca), Great Grand Child Colton Abernethy, Sister Sandra Webb (Eau Claire Wi) and Sister in-law Esther Peterson (Galesville Wi).
