To address deteriorating pavement and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing the following:

  • Removing 2 inches of the existing pavement and paving 2 inches of hot-mix asphalt over the roadway

  • Replacing culverts

  • Widening paved shoulders

  • Replacing guardrail

  • Completing gravel shouldering

  • Installing centerline and shoulder rumble strips

  • Placing new pavement markings

  • Placing a thin polymer overlay on the Hay Creek Bridge

  • Removing flashing and making soffit and post anchorage repairs to the bridge over Como Creek

During construction, WIS 40 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter lane closures controlled by either flagging operations or temporary traffic signals.
