William Hansen, Jr.

William “Bill” Charles Hansen, Jr., 81, Menomonie, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Eau Claire.

Bill was born February 5, 1945 in Irvington, WI, a son of the late William, Sr. and Orpah (Hill) Hansen. At the age of two, the family moved to N. Menomonie. Bill graduated from Menomonie High School and went on to pursue several vocations. He ultimately took a position at UW-Stout where he spent nearly 40 years.

Throughout his life, Bill was an extremely kind man, never hesitating to go out of his way to help those in need. Everyone who met him loved him. He was outgoing, always willing to lend a hand and quick with a smile or hug. He will be deeply and dearly missed.

Bill is survived by his daughters: DeAnna and Denise; a grandson, Billy; sisters: Helen and Loretta, both of Minneapolis, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill is also survived by his dear friends, Becky and Anita, who helped him greatly over the last few years.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

The visitation for Bill will be Tuesday, May 12, 2025 from 12 Noon to 1 PM at Rhiel Funeral Home, Menomonie.  The funeral will be held at 1 PM, followed by a light lunch.  Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery-Menomonie.
