Virgil D. Bundy, age 94, of Elmwood, WI, passed away on June 2, 2026, at Welcome Home Assisted Living in Elmwood, WI.
He was born on September 26, 1932, to Merle and Gladys (DeLong) Bundy in Eau Galle, WI.
He grew up in the Eau Galle area. He went to grade school in Eau Galle and attended Durand High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged and received the Purple Heart.
When he returned to Wisconsin, he worked various jobs before getting on with the Soo Line Railroad, where he stayed until retirement.
In 1953, Virgil married Virginia Sowlier, and together they had four children: Duane, Pam, Terri, and Ricky. Though they later divorced. He later married Dorothy Quilling of Wheeler, WI, who has since passed away.
He enjoyed fishing and traveling to Florida. In his later years, he enjoyed the activities provided by Welcome Home Assisted Living and spending time with the staff.
Virgil is survived by his children, Duane Bundy, Terri Hubbard, Ricky (Carrie) Bundy, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister, Donna Dienmeyer; and good friends, Lenard and MaryAnn Syndel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Gladys Bundy; daughter, Pam; granddaughter, Chandra Bundy; and grandson, Dustin Whittier.
