
Vichai W. Yang, 68, of Menomonie, WI passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was born April 4th, 1956 in Xiangkhouang, Laos. He is one of 7 children, oldest son, to Cher Chai Yang and Mai Vang. At the age of 12, he joined the secret army that fought alongside the Americans during the Vietnam War. He escaped Laos fleeing to Thailand due to his association with the Americans after the war ended.
Vichai met and married Ge Moua at Ban Vinai, a refugee camp in Thailand before immigrating to the U.S in 1982. They had six children, 4 boys and 2 girls. They first resided in Pittsburg, PA before relocating to Madison, WI then permanently in Menomonie, WI for the remainder of his life. They were part of Menomonie Lutheran Church for a few years before joining the Hmong Menomonie Alliance Church. Vichai always enjoyed the outdoors. His love for nature was undeniable as it reminded him of his family and home country. He also enjoyed travelling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Vichai is survived by his wife Ge; six children Jacob, Cheng, Xai, Cindy, Johnny, and Wendy. He is also survived by his six grandchildren Nolan, Irene, Noble, Athena, Neo, and Jaxon.
Funeral services will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday March 8th, 2025 at Menomonie Alliance Church with Pastor Lasue Her officiating. Burial will be at Christ Lutheran/Halvorson Cemetery on Sunday March 9th, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. in Menomonie, WI.
