UW Valleys Day of Caring brings together 130 volunteers for 15 community projects

United Way St. Croix and Red Cedar Valleys brought 130 volunteers together on October 1, 2026, for its annual Day of Caring. Volunteers completed 15 community projects across Dunn and Pepin counties, supporting local nonprofits, schools, parks, and community organizations through painting, landscaping, cleaning, organizing, and other hands-on projects.
Day of Caring connects individuals and workplace teams with meaningful opportunities to give back to their communities. By sharing their time and skills, volunteers help local organizations tackle projects that improve their facilities, maintain community spaces, and support the people they serve.
“Day of Caring is a wonderful opportunity to bring people together to support the organizations making a difference in our communities,” said Megan Hausch, Interim Executive Director of United Way St. Croix and Red Cedar Valleys. “We’re grateful to everyone who volunteered, hosted a project, or supported the event and helped make the day a success.”
Projects took place at community sites including Arkansaw Creek Park, Assumption Catholic School, CESA 11 Menomonie Head Start, Dunn County Historical Society, Indianhead Enterprises, Lamb’s Creek Park, Mabel Tainter Theater, Menomonie Area High School, Menomonie Public Library, Mission Restoring Hope, Northwest Landing Park, Positive Alternatives, The Bridge to Hope, and The Neighbors of Dunn County.
United Way St. Croix and Red Cedar Valleys thanks all the volunteers, project hosts, sponsors, and community partners who helped make this year’s event possible. Their time, generosity, and support help strengthen the communities where we live and work.
Planning for next year is ahead! Keep an eye on UW Valleys website and social media for updates on the 2027 event and future volunteer opportunities.
