Thomas W. Olson age 73, of Menomonie, WI passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026 at his home.
He was born on September 5, 1952 in Eau Claire, WI to Simon A. Olson and Betty Lou (Schultz) Olson. He grew up in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1970. He received his BS Degree in Business at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Tom married the love of his life, Kristie Strand, June 5, 1982 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI. Together they had two sons Ryan Thomas Olson and Sean Christopher Olson. He attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Through the years he was a member of the Rotary Club and City Council. He was instrumental in getting the Wakanda Water park going. He was an insurance agent for years and started Olson Insurance Agency.
Tom is survived by his wife Kristie of Menomonie; two sons Ryan (Lyndsey) Olson of St. Cloud, MN and Sean (Katie) Olson of Minneapolis, MN. He is also survived by his four grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Jade, Addy, Fulton and Linden. He loved to attend their events. He is also survived by two brothers, David of Menomonie, Robert (Kim) Olson of Huntsville, AL and two nephews, Alexander (Amanda) Olson, Bobby Olson, and a niece, Meghan Olson, mother-in-law June Strand and sister-in-law Kay Strand. Further survived by three aunts; Bonnie Van Der Weff, Gin Olson and Birdie Olson, and several cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Simon & Betty, father-in-law, William Strand and sisters-in-law, Kari Strand and Kathy Strand.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 3, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home, in Menomonie. Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Sarah Miller officiating with visitation one hour prior to the service. Lunch will be served. Burial will be at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery in Menomonie WI.
