Thomas J. Stansbury, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at Colfax Senior Living surrounded by family.


Tom was born on February 5, 1938. He was raised on the family farm in Hay River and graduated from Colfax High School in 1956. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1965. Later that year, he began his career with GTE, where he worked until retiring in 1994.


On February 17, 1962, Tom married the love of his life, Jackie. Together they raised three wonderful children: Tammy, Debra, and Thomas.


Tom especially loved spending time with family at the cabin in Barnes, where he enjoyed bingo, fishing, and winter hunting trips that created many cherished memories.


Tom is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Rob) Hakanson and Debra (Craig) Amundson; nine grandchildren; brothers-in-law Jimmy (Ande) Hoage and Dennis (Lilli) Hoage; and his nephew, Todd Stansbury.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie; his son, Thomas; parents, Emma and Guy Stansbury; mother- and father-in-law Dale and Violet Hoage; brothers, David (Donna) Stansbury and John (Angie) Stansbury; brother-in-law Gary (Pete) Stansbury; and niece Julie Stansbury and nephew, Eric Stansbury.


A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 29th at Olson Funeral Home with Chaplain Bonnie Geurkink officiating. Burial will take place at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, Township of Hay River, Dunn County with military honors. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service.
