Sandra “Sandy” Johnson, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at The Neighbors of Dunn County.
Sandy was born on February 7, 1942, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Philip and Eleanor (Benson) Oas. She grew up in Elk Mound and graduated from Elk Mound High School in 1959.
On August 18, 1962, Sandy married the love of her life, Wayne Johnson, also of Elk Mound. Together they began their life in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and soon welcomed twins, Patrick and Patricia. Over the years, Sandy and Wayne’s journey took them to Milwaukee, Mondovi, Elk Mound, Plymouth, MI, Mt. Morris, MI, and Brooklyn Park, MN. Fifteen years after their twins were born, they welcomed their son, Philip, completing their family.
Sandy began her career with Prudential Insurance Company in Eau Claire in 1969 and retired from Prudential in Maple Grove, MN, in 1995. Following retirement, she and Wayne returned to their “Happy Place,” the family cottage on Tainter Lake.
Together, they embraced retirement—enjoying the Minnesota Orchestra, attending Ludington Guard Band concerts on Tuesday evenings, and playing bingo at the Moose Lodge on Thursdays. Above all, Sandy cherished time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Comforts of Home, The Neighbors of Dunn County, and St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion shown to Sandy over the years.
Sandy was preceded in death by Wayne Johnson. Her parents, her brother Clifford and her sisters Phylis & Myrna.

Grandchildren: Sam (Zack), Adam, Wynter (Gracie), Raimee (Luke), Alayna, Ben, Jordyn (Jackie), Kalyn, Waylon, Preston (Alex), Ashton (Elisabeth) Great Grandchildren: Kennedy, Theodore, Henry and Ollie.
