Richard G. Lynch Sr.

Richard G. Lynch Sr., age 86, of Menomonie, WI, passed away September 15, 2026, at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie, WI.

Richard was born June 10, 1940, to Marvin and Eunice (Thompson) Lynch in the Town of Lucas, Dunn County. He grew up in the Menomonie area and graduated from Menomonie High School. Richard joined the Army and was proud to serve his country. After serving in the Army, Richard moved to Washington, where he met Luretta Legitt. The two were married on April 14, 1966. They later moved back to Menomonie, where they made their home and raised their four children.

Richard went to work for Presto and later worked for Doboy Manufacturing as an assembly supervisor. After Doboy was bought out by MRM Elgin Manufacturing, he continued working as a supervisor. Richard retired in 1999, but he was not quite ready to stop working. He picked up a part-time job at Sears in Menomonie, where his favorite part of the job was getting to chat with everyone who came into the store. In 2013, he hung it up and fully retired.

In his younger years, Richard also kept busy outside of his day job. He would shingle houses after work and on weekends, and on Friday and Saturday nights, he would bartend at the Piranha.

Richard loved listening to music, playing checkers, watching Hee Haw, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a sports fan to the end. He loved to watch and listen to the Packers, Badgers, and Milwaukee Brewers and was an avid Menomonie “Indians” football fan.

Richard is survived by his four children, Steve (Melodi) Lynch, Carol Bonner, Richard “Rick” (Lucy) Lynch, and Aimee (Randi) Cronk; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Luretta; granddaughter, Stacey; two brothers; four sisters; and his parents.

Richard will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Evergreen Cemetery in Menomonie, WI, with Pastor Sarah Miller officiating and military honors performed by the Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Neighbors of Dunn County and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Richard and his family.
