Ramona A. Sobottka

Ramona A. Sobottka, age 85, of Knapp, WI, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire, surrounded by her family.

Ramona was born November 30, 1940, in Durand, WI, to Edward Zeilinger and Leona (Yarrington) Zeilinger. She grew up in Durand and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Lima in 1958.

Ramona married Van Sobottka on December 26, 1959, and together they raised six children. Ramona worked as a CNA and later in life went to school for her associate's degree as a paralegal. She also worked as a part-time bookkeeper. She served several terms on the Village Board in Knapp.

She loved music and spending time with family, but most of all, she loved her books and reading.

Ramona is survived by her husband of 67 years, Van; her sons, David (Cheryl) of Menomonie and Anthony (Dana) of Knapp; daughters, Diane (Joel) of Tomah, Denise (Todd) of Barron, Delores (Brad) of Minong, and Rene of Durand; siblings, Ron of Durand, Ken (Lea) of New Richmond, and Sheila (Chris) of Durand; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Zeilinger and Leona (Yarrington) Zeilinger; her sister, Sharon (Zeilinger) Ayers; and brother-in-law, John Ayers.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00–6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI.
