Patina Vintage Co. - Giving Old Furniture a Second Chance

Giving new life to old, neglected furniture is the inspiration behind the newly opened Patina Vintage Co. in North Menomonie.

Owner Kayla Blue has been refinishing furniture for the past ten years, selling her finished pieces in several area shops. She had always dreamed of opening her own boutique, and when she spotted the perfect space for rent, she took a chance.

Blue opened Patina Vintage Co., a vintage-inspired farmhouse boutique with colorful bohemian flare, in February 2021. While refinished furniture is Blue’s specialty, you will also find an eclectic selection of home decor, rugs, jewelry, pillows, comforter sets, lamps, and more at this boutique.

“Refinishing furniture has become a passion of mine, and opening my own place gives me the freedom to do what I love,” said Blue. “I have workspace in the back, and my kids come in and help me out. It really is a family business.”

Sometimes the pieces are hand-me-downs from friends and relatives, but usually, Blue can be found hunting through thrift stores and old barns searching for her next project.

“Taking furniture that would go in the trash heap and restoring those old pieces to be loved by the next generation, that’s what motivates me,” Blue said. “It’s so rewarding.”

Blue is continually adding more items to her store and is working on an accompanying website that will allow her to sell items online as well.

Patina Vintage Co. is located at 1302 N Broadway, next to PC Doctor. Currently, the boutique is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10am - 6pm. More information can be found on Patina Vintage Co.'s Facebook page.

When not refinishing furniture, Blue can be found running her other business, A Clean Stage - The Natural Cleaning Company. More information about that business can be found on A Clean Stage’s Facebook page and website.
