Nicholas H. Hanson

Nicholas H. Hansen, age 68 formerly of Platteville and Minocqua Wisconsin died Saturday May 10th at Advent Hospital in Kissimmee, Florida.

Nick was born March 28, 1957, and was adopted by Harold R. Hansen & Harriet S. (Schlottman) Hansen from a Greek orphanage. He was lucky to have found such a wonderful family with the Hansen’s, Schlottman’s, Schutz’s and Wyss’s, all of Wisconsin. Because he was raised in Wisconsin, he enjoyed all seasons and the outdoor activities afforded by each. As a youth, he loved boating, waterskiing and all types of hunting; he carried these passions throughout his life.

Nick was also musically and creatively inclined, mentored by his parents who were also very creative. At an early age he learned to play the organ and later in life he learned to play the guitar. He enjoyed playing music in the garage and with his friends. His favorite band was the Rolling Stones, but the Beatles came in at a very close second!

He graduated from Platteville, WI HS in 1975, served in the US Air Force and later moved to Ft Lauderdale, Florida where his parents kept a second residence. While working for Howard Johnson’s (Ground Round) restaurants as a food and beverage manager, he transferred to Orlando Florida, where he met his wife, Lori.

In 1985, he married Lori Rother in Orlando, Florida and continued to live in Florida for the remainder of his life. They had no children but always had a dog or two.

Nick was a good friend to many and always willing to help where he could. He was a good friend, neighbor and husband and he will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by Harold R Hansen, Harriet (Schlottman) Hansen and brother Vinton of his immediate family.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Hansen of Kissimmee Florida and many friends and relatives.
