APARTMENT FOR RENT SCAMS
Don’t let scammers take your money.
Know the warning signs. Protect yourself.
DO NOT PAY APPLICATION FEES OR SECURITY DEPOSITS
Never pay any fees or deposits before seeing the rental in person.
VERIFY THE PROPERTY MANAGER
Research the property management company.
Call them using a phone number from their official website, not the listing.
BE CAUTIOUS ABOUT DEALS THAT SEEM TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE
Extremely low rent or pressure to act fast are common red flags.
If you think you’ve been scammed or have information, contact the Menomonie Police Department at 715-232-1283. In an emergency, call 911.
