On Monday, April 13, 2026, the School District of the Menomonie Area hired Mitch Olson as the next head football coach at Menomonie High School

Olson's career includes 11 years of teaching physical education in La Crosse, coaching football and baseball, and serving as a strength and conditioning coach. Olson spent the past five years as the head football coach at La Crosse Central High School, where he led the RiverHawks to Mississippi Valley Conference Champions in each of the past three seasons. Olson was named MVC Coach of the Year in 2023 and 2025, and he was recently selected as a coach for the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Game in 2026.

After graduating from Chippewa Falls High School in 2009, Olson earned his bachelor's degree (Kinesiology - Physical Education) from UW-Eau Claire in 2015 and his master's degree in education from Viterbo University in 2020.

Olson will replace Mike Sinz, who spent the past five years as the head football coach of the Mustangs before resigning to take the head football coaching position at Eau Claire North.
