Michael L. Belden, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on May 4, 2026, surrounded by the embrace of his devoted family and cherished friends. Michael was born August 28, 1942, in Peoria, Illinois to Charles and Marge Belden. Mike grew up in the Redwing area and moved to Menomonie in 1961 where he was then drafted to Vietnam and later graduated from Menomonie High school in 1966. He then helped his parents run the Marion Hotel. Mike was a beacon of light and warmth to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.


He is survived by his dear brother Tom (Jackie) Belden; of Casa Grande, AZ, sisters Julie (Mark) Wood of Stevens Point, WI, Jeanne (Guy) Brown; of Eau Claire, WI and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighbors who will remember him with deep love and affection.


Mike proceeds in death by his parents Charles and Marge Belden, brother James Belden, sister-in-law Karen Scheel and a special cousin Dennis Schuller.


A dedicated husband to Linda Belden, whom he married on June 21st, 1969, in Menomonie. Mike and Linda shared 57 beautiful years together. Their love was a testament to enduring partnership and unwavering support. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Eric (Michelle Forester) Belden of Chippewa Falls, WI and Jessica (Brian) Bertrang of Strum, WI instilling in them the values of kindness and integrity that Mike exemplified throughout his life.


Mike was immensely proud of his eight grandchildren: Donovan (Alissa) Pauley, Maddy (fiancé Hunter Guenther) Bertrang, Max Bertrang, Donald, Emma, and Michael. He found immense joy in their accomplishments and in watching them grow into remarkable individuals. His legacy extends through his great-grandsons, Carter and Cooper Pauley, who carry forward the spirit and love he brought to his family. A man of service, Mike answered the call of duty, serving honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His dedication to his country was matched only by his commitment to his community. Recently he went on the Freedom Honor Flight to Washington DC with his daughter Jessica. After his military service, Mike ran his own carpet installation business and then pursued a career with 3M for 25 years. He embodies the entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic that defined his professional life.


Mike was an active member of the Menomonie Alliance Church, the VA, and the 3M Clown Club, where his cheery attitude and generous spirit brought smiles to many. Known for his infectious laughter and willingness to lend a helping hand. Mike was a friend to everyone he met. His hobbies of woodworking, car shopping and watching his kids and grandkids grow. Mike had a love for old trucks and cars. His greatest hobby was dressing up as “Jingles the Clown” for over 50 years. Making balloon animals and walking in parades provided him with endless joy and greatest happiness. Mike never went anywhere without balloons and stickers in his pocket. He was so proud to be Jingles and would show anyone his pictures.


The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Mayo Oncology, Mayo Red Cedar, St. Croix Hospice and their special friend, Rosann Boyd-Conklin, for their compassionate care and support during Mike’s final days.


Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2026, at Menomonie Alliance Church with Pastor James Cameron officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will take place at Irving Creek Cemetery, Township of Menomonie, Dunn County. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Mike are invited to gather in remembrance of his remarkable life and legacy on Sunday, May 10, 2026 from 5:00-8:00 at Olson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.


Mike’s loving presence, generous heart, and unwavering friendship will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. His life was a testament to love and service, and his memory will forever be cherished.
