Menomonie football coach Mike Sinz leaving after five seasons

Head varsity football coach Mike Sinz has informed Menomonie High School Activities Director Matt Riley of his intention to leave the Menomonie Football Program at the end of the 2025-26 school year. Along with any other unfilled school vacancies for next year, a comprehensive search for a new varsity football coach for the Menomonie Mustangs will begin immediately.


Sinz, A 2001 graduate from Menomonie, previously worked as a teacher and head football coach at Eau Claire Memorial and Mondovi. Taking over in Menomonie after the retirement of Hall of Fame Coach Joe LaBuda in 2021, Sinz led the Mustangs to a 10-2 season and a Big Rivers Conference Championship. Menomonie qualified for the WIAA playoffs in each of Sinz's five seasons at the helm, with an overall record of 30-23.


When asked about Sinz's tenure in Menomonie, Riley commented:


Coach Sinz dedicated significant time, effort, and passion to our football program. During his tenure, he positively influenced the lives of our student-athletes both on and off the field. His commitment to the program contributed to shaping the culture of our program and strengthening our school community. We sincerely appreciate his leadership and the relationships he established with our athletes, families, staff, and community supporters.
