Marsa L. Hanson, age 64, of Boyceville, WI passed away on Monday, April 28th from complications from cancer; surrounded by her family.
Marsa was born November 10th, 1960, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts and was raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota by her parents Scott & Janice Metcalf. She grew up in a beautifully blended family with her two sisters (Jenny Norton & Mary Finn) and one brother (Maurice Knutson). As a young girl, Marsa was a girl scout, volunteered with the Jaycees, and loved to read.
After graduating high school, she climbed the corporate ladder and led a successful career in the insurance industry. She raised two children (Ashley & Kelsey Neby) and later moved to Menomonie, Wisconsin where she met the love of her life. Keith and Marsa were married in 2009 and blended their family with Keith’s daughter (Nichole Hanson) in Boyceville, WI.
Marsa was a caring, kind, generous, and hardworking wife, mother, and friend. She loved to host parties and cook for her family and friends. She was accepting and welcoming; always making sure her guests had a plate, a seat, and a gift for the holidays. She loved her family, her pets, and spending time with Keith on road trips, talking on the back porch, and bird watching. Marsa was empathetic and loved moments that made her feel “glad in her heart”. She was also witty, strong, and someone who would always fight for what was fair and right. She was someone you’d want in your corner; and loved by many.
Marsa is survived by her husband Keith Hanson of Boyceville, WI and three daughters Ashley (Shawn) Der, Kelsey (Koal) Gil, and Nichole Hanson; and five grandchildren; Maria Krumenauer, Devlyn Gil, Stella Martinez, Adrianna Der, and Aaliyah Der.
She was preceded in death by her parents Scott Metcalf and Janice Metcalf; and sister Linda Diehl.
