Marlys Jones

Marlys M. Jones, age 92, of Menomonie, WI, went to eternal rest on Friday, April 25th after a brief illness.

Marlys was born to George and Anna Lemke on February 25, 1933 in Menomonie, Wisconsin, where she grew up and graduated from high school. On February 10, 1951 she married Forrest D. Jones and together they raised 3 children: Darlys, Douglas and Denise. She and her three sisters all had marriages of over 60 years.

Marlys was a strong woman who never wanted to ask for help. She helped others while working at the American Lutheran Home for 24 years - even riding a snowmobile to work after a snowstorm. Many days she would care for her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren as they were growing up. She made holidays special when she would bake cut-out cookies, make a ham dinner, and then play bingo and provide fun prizes. Together with Forrest they enjoyed square dancing, traveling wherever they could to find a dance. She loved going to garage sales but really enjoyed having her own and seeing everyone who would come. She amassed a large collection of Tom Clark gnomes, angels and patriotic items. In her later years she enjoyed working on 1000-piece White Mountain puzzles, reading, and playing Farkle with anyone who visited.

Marlys was preceded in death by Forrest, her parents, sisters Hazel Ponto, Margaret Kortz, Doris Emerson, infant Mabel, along with many friends and relatives.

Left to mourn include her children Darlys (Randy) Dulin, Douglas (Diane) Jones, Denise (Dave) Floyd. Her grandchildren include Heather (Larry) Graves, Ryan (Kara) Dulin, Ross (Heidi) Dulin, Crystal (Jason) Ginsbach, Jodi Jones, Kyle (Kristen) Jones, Alex (Casey) Jones, Aaron Jones, Megan (Lenny) Bollinger, Matthew Jones, Amy (Stefan) Gildemeister, Erin (Sam) DeNike. Great-grandchildren Tyler (Kiley) Graves, Forrest Dulin, Brady Dulin, Brittney Dulin, Dylan Jones, Hailey Jones, Jazlynn Slocum, Jaidyn Slocum, Teagyn Slocum, Janiya Payne, Ellie Bollinger, Brody Bollinger, Oliver Bollinger, and coming soon Baby Bollinger, Bristol Jones, Nina Jones, Mason Gildemeister, Ethan Gildemeister, Theodore DeNike and coming soon Baby DeNike. She is also survived by two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI with Pastor August Hohl officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
