MAKE IT! Schedule
February 5: Phenakistoscope (Spin Animation) Make a phenakistoscope (easier to make than pronounce) that displays a continuously looping animation. You’ll create spinning animation discs that bring drawings to life through persistence of vision. This activity blends art, motion and early animation concepts.
February 12: Crazy Valentines Design playful valentines using multiple printmaking methods including handmade stamps and LEGO presses. Emphasis is on creativity, repetition and playful design.
February 19: Pepper’s Ghost Build a simple optical illusion that makes images appear to float like ghosts. This classic illusion explores reflection, angles and light behavior. Pepper's ghost is a technique used in the theatre where an image of an object off-stage is projected so it appears to be in front of the audience.
February 26: Circuitry -- Lights and Fans Learn how to build a complete electrical circuit to light an LED and spin a small fan. Families explore conductivity, polarity and basic electronics.
