Lawrence L. Wolf, age 88 of Menomonie, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025 at his home in Menomonie, WI.
Larry was born in Downsville, WI on January 17, 1937, he was 1st child for Anton and Xerpha (Sunderlin) Wolf. Later came sister Laurel and brother George "Butch". He graduated from Menomonie High School in 1955.
Larry spent most of his life working on the Wolf family farm alongside his parents. After Tony & Xerpha' s retirement from farming, Larry went to work for Waynes's pallets in Downsville WI. Larry worked as a mechanic and drove trucks and other odd jobs until he retired at the age of 65.
Larry was a mechanic by trade, always willing to help everyone in the local area. Often spending time at family and friends' farms helping fix machinery. Larry had a way with tractors, cars or any other piece of machinery which decided not to run when it was needed the most. Can still hear him say as he's working on some equipment "That's just the way you have to do it". Larry would gather on Friday nights with friends and enjoy the fish fry at Timber Inn Bar Downsville, WI.
Larry took great pride in his antique tractor and vehicle collections. Often going to nearby shows where he enjoyed gathering with everyone who shared in his interest/hobby of refurbishing and displaying all the different brands and models of the collections he had. Larry loved the outdoors, fishing was his favorite pass time, along with deer hunting, bear hunting and in earlier years raccoon hunting, he spent numerous weekends "Up North at the Cabin in Iron River, WI. He was often out in his boat on Bismark lake catching his trophy wall-mount the big "Northern Pike". Larry did his own taxidermy and to this day has them displayed in his basement on the farm.
Larry has been overseer to the Wolf Trust Family Campground for years, where he over sees maintenance and upkeep to ensure all family and friends can enjoy themselves while visiting the site in the Chippewa bottoms. Many memories of jeep rides on sandbar, rides up & down river in his boat, family gathering, cookouts and better yet stories around the campfire. His contagious laughter could be heard throughout the campground.
Larry is survived by his nieces and nephews, Martin Peterson, Gordon (Karen) Wolf, Sarah (Jeff) Luer, Norah (Dan) Hartung, Lylah (Mark) Peterson, and Amanda (Mike) Burgraff, as well as many other great and great great nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents Anton "Tony" Xerpha (Sunderlin) Wolf, Brother George "Butch" (Patrica "Pat") Wolf, and Sister Laurel (William "Bill") Peterson.
A special thank you to his dear friends that helped take care of Larry.
