Jon E. Osterman of Menomonie, WI passed away at home on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025. He was 64 years young.
Born in Hancock, MN on May 15, 1960 to Herman "Herb" Osterman of Hancock, MN and Violet "Vi" (Hauglund) of Morris MN. He grew up in Hancock alongside many cousins, and graduated from Hancock High school in 1978. He traveled around working in many professions around the U.S. until he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1981. He was first stationed overseas in Ramstein Germany, which is where he met his wife, Candace (Shafer) and where his daughter, Arica, was born. After her birth, Jon and Candy were stationed in Columbus MS where they both continued to grow their military family of lifelong friends. Eventually, Jon moved his family back to MN to be closer to his father and other family. There he worked as a semi mechanic for many years before moving out to Menomonie in 2005 and getting back into his childhood familiarity of farming.
Along with being a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, he was also a proud Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast and fabricator, a proud mechanic, a proud semi-truck driver, and a proud farmer. He loved his community and was active as a veteran with AMVETS.
Jon is survived by his wife Candy (Shafer) of Menomonie, his daughter Arica (Zac) Hayes of Menomonie, two granddaughters; Carinna and Danika, his sister-in-law Cherry Bartlett of the Cincinnati area, his niece Jessica (Cody) Vogelpohl of the Cincinnati area, his aunt Esther (Hauglund) Petersen of Morris, MN, as well as many spare grandchildren and other close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herb and Vi, as well as cherished cousins, aunts and uncles.
A celebration of Jon's life is being planned and will take place somewhere in Menomonie in the middle of May or in June of 2025, around his birthday, this way his friends and family from all over the country can get together and share our Jonny stories.
