James “Jim” Dale Deutsch, age 75, of Menomonie, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, with his loving family by his side.
Jim was born on November 28, 1950, in Rice Lake to Irving “Bob” and Lila Deutsch. He married the love of his life, Joan Leach, on October 7, 1972, in Menomonie. Together they built a life centered around family, hard work, and creating lasting memories while raising their four children: Dale, Kathy, Kevin, and Adam.
Jim worked for 43 years at ConAgra in Menomonie. Outside of work, some of Jim’s happiest moments were spent at the family cabin in Minong, a special place that he and his brothers built together. Jim and his brothers also built the home that Jim and Joan have lived in for the past 47 years, a place filled with memories, family gatherings, and love. He also enjoyed woodworking in his garage, crafting games and projects for his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Irving “Bob” and Lila Deutsch; his brother, Dick Deutsch; and his sister, Judy Whitman.
Jim will be deeply missed by his wife, Joan Deutsch; his children: Dale (Jessica), Kathy Howe (Rick), Kevin (Mandy), and Adam (Stacy); and his cherished grandchildren: Hunter, DJ, Wyatt, Kaylee, Klayton, Karlee, Layne, and Tannor. He is also survived by his brother, Bobby (Jean) Deutsch; and his in-laws, Betty Leach, Bev Leach, and Dave Leach.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, dedication to his family, and the joy he found in spending time with those he loved most. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI with Celebrant Teresa Pejsa officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Salem Iron Creek Cemetery in the town of Spring Brook, Dunn County, WI.
