Governor Evers approves WIS 64 pavement improvement project

Northwest Region’s second hot-in-place recycling project planned in Dunn County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $3.28 million contract with prime contractor Dustrol, Inc. of Towanda, Kansas, for a pavement improvement project on WIS 64 from County O east of Connorsville east to the north junction of County W in Dunn County.

Construction is scheduled to start Monday, July 7.

The pavement on this segment of WIS 64 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation project will:

  • Mill a portion of the existing pavement by heating it

  • Mix the millings with emulsion, rejuvenating agents and additives

  • Relay the mixed material on the roadway

  • Complete a fog and chip seal over the road

  • Install centerline rumble strips

  • Place new pavement markings

During construction, WIS 64 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter daytime single-lane closures controlled by flagging operations.

Culvert and bridge work on this stretch was completed in 2024. Construction in 2025 is scheduled for completion in late August.
