Full closures of US 12 bridge and WIS 40 coming in Dunn County

Closures necessary to replace US 12 bridge approach slabs and culverts on WIS 40

Motorists will encounter full closures of US 12 and WIS 40 in July to complete work as part of a resurfacing project on US 12 from Princeton Drive in Elk Mound to just north of WIS 29, and on WIS 40 from US 12 to County M in the village of Colfax.
July 7-20: The bridge carrying US 12 over WIS 29 northwest of Elk Mound will be closed during this period for the replacement of concrete approach slabs. Interchange ramps will remain open.
Detour route: Traffic will be detoured via County H and County HH.
July 20-25: WIS 40 will be closed south of 855th Street south of Colfax for culvert pipe replacement.
Detour route: Traffic will be detoured via WIS 29, I-94, WIS 25 and WIS 170.
Closures are weather dependent.
To address deteriorating pavement and other issues, the project includes:
Milling 2.25 inches of existing asphalt and paving 3.25 inches of hot-mix asphalt in rural areas
Milling 3.25 inches of existing asphalt and paving 3.25 inches of hot-mix asphalt in urban areas
Replacing joints on the Eighteen Mile Creek Bridge in village of Colfax
Placing centerline rumble strips in rural areas
Replacing cross culverts, guardrail and sidewalk curb ramps
Replacing the railroad crossing in the village of Colfax
This work will be completed by the railroad.
Construction began in March and is scheduled for completion in early October.
