Erwin “Erv” Berg, age 90, of Menomonie, WI, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie, WI.
He was born on July 27, 1935, in Strum, WI, to Otto and Erma (Lee) Berg. Erv was raised in the Eau Claire area and graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1953.
Erv married Vivian Pierce on July 2, 1955, in Eau Claire. Together they lived in several places before settling in Menomonie in the 1960s, where they raised their family.
He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard for 38 years, 11 months, and 12 days and worked for the Farmers Store in Menomonie for many years. Erv was well known for his sense of humor and practical jokes, especially among coworkers, family, and friends. His playful nature was one of the ways he showed his affection for those around him. Erv enjoyed teaching hunter safety for many years alongside his fellow National Guard members.
He is survived by his children, Cindy Foslid and Brian Berg; grandchildren, Jackie (Gared) Pieper, Tony (Shawna) Foslid, Brianna (John) Wasmuth, and Lucille Berg; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Pieper, John James Wasmuth, Dorothy Wasmuth, and Elinor Wasmuth. He is further survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog, Bingo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian; and his siblings, Joyce, Omer, Dorothy, and Shirley.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI. Military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. by the Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard.
