4-H Grows Here!

During the past few weeks, Dunn County 4-H had the pleasure of holding two Spring Break Around the World in 80 Minutes Sessions, one in Menomonie and one in Colfax, at which 16 children and two 4-H older youth helpers were in attendance. During the sessions, the children made dragons, spin drums, maracas, digeridoos, crowns, pasta art and more while they "visited" 7 countries from around the world. Dunn County 4-H are grateful to the Colfax Library for allowing them to use the auditorium space for the session in Colfax.

Dunn County 4-H is already gearing up for fair season.  The Youth Equine Project will meet on Sunday, April 12 from 5-7 p.m. at the horse arena on the Dunn County Fairgrounds.  At it, the leaders will discuss the requirements to show at the Dunn County Fair and the schedule for the Youth Equine Project’s ride nights.  The Shooting Sports Project will meet at noon on Sundays from April 12- May 3 at the Northwest Rod and Gun Club in Boyceville.  The fair shoot will be held on the Dunn County Fairgrounds the Sunday before the Dunn County Fair.  Also, in preparation for the fair, the Small Animal Project will meet on April 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Dunn County Government Building.

Dunn County 4-H would like to remind all their 4-H members that if they would like to make any entries into the Dunn County Fair, they must first select their project area on 4honline by May 5th at https://4honline.com.  This must be done prior to selecting their specific entries on FairEntry to register their entry for the fair after the May 5th deadline at https://fairentry.com/.

The UW-Stout Robotic Program and the Dunn County 4-H Youth Activities Council (YAC) are inviting all 4-H Youth in Dunn County who are in grades 6 and up to join them on Tuesday, April 28 in the Vocational Rehabilitation Building at UW-Stout as they learn about Robotics.  The UW-Stout Robotics team will teach the 4-H’ers about their program and give them a chance to try out the robots.  4-H’ers are invited to check out the YAC business meeting at 6:00 p.m. or come to the event at 6:30. Register to attend at https://tinyurl.com/4j5sxck3.

The Dunn County 4-H Dog Project is a group of 4-H’ers with a common interest in dog performance sports.  While they teach dog training, the Dog Project leaders focus on positive reinforcement methods to make sure that it is fun for both the dog and their trainer.  Dog Project covers training in Obedience, Rally, Agility, Showmanship, Nose work, and Tricks.  Starting on April 13, the Dog Project will meet weekly on Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m. at the Dunn County Recreation park until the Dunn County Fair.  If you have any questions about the Dog Project, please contact Sandy Miller at 715-233-3074.

If you live in Dunn County and don’t want to miss out on future 4-H activities, join Dunn County 4-H today by calling Zachary Rozmiarek at 715-232-1636. To see more of our activities, visit our Facebook page.
