There is a lot happening with Dunn County 4-H!
Fourteen of our 4-H’ers had a fabulous time making miniature gardens to keep on July 1st during one of our Summer Project Day events. As you can see from the photos, they were very creative with their gardens, and each had a story to tell.

State bound! In addition to the many individual awards that were earned at Area Animal Science Days, the Dunn County Junior Dairy Judging Team won first place and a spot to compete at the state competition!

4-H Summer camp at Kamp Kenwood was a huge success. Besides swimming and playing games, the Outpost campers learned about bee keeping from Drew Kaiserson, how to build a shelter, and what to do in emergencies like storms or a bear attack.
Upcoming 4-H Activities
Exciting things are being planned for our Kindergarten through second grader 4-H’ers this month. Dunn, Chippewa, and Eau Claire Tri-County Cloverbud Day Camps are on July 16th at Wakanda Park in Menomonie with Dunn County-Tracks and Trails Camp, July 17th at Irvine Park Zoo in Chippewa Falls with Junior Zookeeper Camp, and July 18th at the Eau Claire Expo Center with WonderLab Camp.
Fair set-up and barn decorating will be on Thursday, July 17 at 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds so the 4-H’ers, fair board members and volunteers will be working hard to prepare for the Dunn County Fair that runs from Monday July 23-27. There are also Fair Booth, Sign, and Planter Contests for the clubs so be sure to walk around the fairgrounds to see their entries. It is going to be an amazing week with a lot to see and do, like the 4-H’ers’ Pie and Ice Cream Social on Sunday the 27th starting at 11:00 a.m. Enjoy a piece of pie and be sure to stick around to cheer on our 4-H’ers who are graduating or winning awards at the Dunn County 4-H Awards Ceremony at 1:00 p.m. at the Free stage.
Featured Dunn County 4-H Club – The Cedarlings
The Cedarlings have meetings every first Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Dunn County Government Center. Some activities they are involved in include cemetery clean-up before Memorial Day, Valentines for nursing homes, project meetings, social activities, club speaking night. Most events are planned by members.

They are proud of their club’s regular community service. In addition to the community service already mentioned, they do a family adoption around the holidays and other projects for local groups including Foster Closet and the Humane Society. Their biggest event of the year is the club’s picnic in July.
The Cedarlings are unique because they do a lot of youth-led planning. At a recent project night, all the projects were chosen by members, and half were led by youth. Project areas are chosen by the youth, but cultural arts and woodworking are done often. They are active in the dog project, horses and softball. Contact Amy Zuber Seguin at 715-309-2326 or azuberseguin@msn.com with any questions.
