Dorothy Boda

Dorothy Irene Boda, age 87, of Boyceville, Wisconsin, was called home to be with her Lord on July 13, 2026. She entered into the eternal joy of Heaven, where she now rests in the loving arms of her Savior.

Dorothy was born on March 30, 1939, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, to Ben and Emily (Klaenhammer) Holzhueter.

She graduated from the Dunn County School of Agriculture (“Aggie”) in 1956. After graduation, Dorothy helped on her family’s farm and worked for DHIA in Menomonie for several years. She later met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Boda, and together they began farming south of Boyceville. After they sold the farm, Dorothy joined the food services staff at UW–Stout, where she faithfully served for nearly 25 years before retiring. Retirement didn’t last long, however, as she returned to UW–Stout as a temporary employee. She treasured the friendships she made there and loved interacting with the students.

On August 8, 1964, Dorothy married Dick Boda in Menomonie. Their love story began when Dick stopped to help her change a flat tire—and then asked her on a date. Together they shared nearly 62 years of marriage, raising five children and welcoming five beloved grandchildren.

Above all else, Dorothy loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She spent countless hours cheering from the sidelines at her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and was proud that she rarely missed a game—unless two of them happened to be playing at the same time. Sports were always a part of her life as she loved bowling with her sister, Norma, as part of a women’s league in Boyceville and was a die-hard fan of the Packers and Brewers. She also found great joy in caring for her grandchildren, sewing, quilting, embroidery, and word-find puzzles. Dorothy often shared fond memories of growing up on the family farm, where she helped care for the cows and other animals. She found happiness in simple things, treasured time with family, and was a faithful example of love, hard work, and quiet devotion.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Dick Boda; her children, David Boda, Dennis (Kendra) Boda, Daniel Boda, Debra Boda, and Dawn (Todd) Huber; and her five cherished grandchildren, Benjamin, Eliana, Griffin, Alessandra, and John.

She is also survived by her siblings, Donald Holzhueter, John (Margaret) Holzhueter, and Norma Holzhueter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Emily Holzhueter, and her siblings, Carl Holzhueter, David Holzhueter, Emily Duesterbeck.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Stephen Oelhafen officiating. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Tiffany Cemetery in Boyceville.

Dorothy loved bright colors, and her family invites those attending to honor her memory by wearing bright, cheerful clothing in celebration of her life.
