Gene D. Simonson

Gene D. Simonson, age 84 passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday October 12, 2026.

He was born March 16th, 1942, in Menomonie to Oscar and Margaret (Melloh) Simonson. He grew up in the Menomonie area and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1960.

Gene married Mary Holden on August 23rd, 1974, and together they lived on the Simonson home farm. He served with the National Guard for 6 years. He worked 42 years for Cenex and never missed a day. He was proud of that.

Gene is survived by his wife, Mary; two stepchildren, Rick Holden of Glenwood City and Gretchen Birthman of Winona, MN; and sister, Chris Knospe of Menomonie. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Margaret; and brother, Jerry Simonson.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, October 25th, 2026, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Kyote's Den, Hwy 29, Menomonie, WI.
