Doris Anne Sanasac, age 82, of Menomonie, Wisconsin, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Monroe Manor in Barron, Wisconsin.
Doris was born on April 3, 1943, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, to Fred and Lois (Edmonds) Rassbach. She grew up in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1961.
It has often been told that Doris met the love of her life, Rupert “Sonny” Sanasac Jr., through church. Their affection grew while washing dishes together in the parsonage after youth group. They were married on December 26, 1961, and soon boarded a train bound for Tacoma, Washington, where Sonny served in the National Guard. Doris loved sharing stories of their adventures in Tacoma, though she always said she was glad when they were able to return “home” to Menomonie and her family.
Doris and Sonny lived most of their married life in Menomonie and Knapp, Wisconsin. In 2023, they were blessed to move together into assisted living at Monroe Manor in Barron, Wisconsin, close to their oldest daughter, Sarah.
Doris was proudly kept busy as a “household engineer” while raising their three daughters. For many years, she was employed at Immanuel Baptist Church in Menomonie as secretary for both the church and school. She even persevered through teaching typing to a group of high school students who had little interest in learning the skill.
Together with Sonny, Doris was a devoted member of Immanuel Baptist Church and School. They faithfully served in numerous ministries over the years, including the Dunn County Health Care Center ministry, the Sunshine Bus, choir, and Children’s Church—who could forget Benji the Beaver?
Doris and Sonny found great joy as their daughters married and began families of their own. Doris cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. While Sonny was often behind the camera, Doris was the driving force behind preserving family memories and could frequently be heard saying, “Sonny, get your camera.” Together, they captured countless treasured moments.
Doris is survived by her daughters: Sarah (Randy) Workman of Barron, Wisconsin; Linda (Michael) Weisenberger of Aurora, Illinois; and Julie (Charles) Cone of Colfax, Wisconsin. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Jessica (Brian), Joshua (Tori), Stephanie (Jake), Katie, Kristen, Jeffrey (Amanda), Kelsie, Elizabeth (Brandon), and Julia; and six great-grandchildren: Meah, Urijah, Gage, Bella, Elsie, and Addie. She is further survived by her sister, Joan (Curt) Phillips; sisters-in-law Sharon and Ann; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rupert “Sonny” Sanasac Jr.; her parents, Fred and Lois Rassbach; and her brothers, Larry, Bill, and Mike.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Menomonie with Pastor Michael VanZee officiating. Burial will take place at Christ Lutheran Halvorson Cemetery in Menomonie.
