Dale C. Kiesau

Dale C. Kiesau, age 88, of Menomonie, WI, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2026, at his home after a battle with colon cancer.
He was born April 1, 1938, in Waukon, IA, to Ralph and Gertrude (Feuerhelm) Kiesau. He grew up in the Elmwood area and graduated from Elmwood High School in 1956.
Dale married Charlene Einum on November 4, 1961, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hatchville. Together, they had three children. Dale served in the Army Reserves and later joined the Marine Corps.
During his military service, he marched in the band at the Rose Bowl Parade and performed at President Kennedy's inauguration.
He worked at Presto and Hedlund Manufacturing and farmed before starting his own construction business. Dale continued working until his retirement at the age of 80.
Dale enjoyed playing sports as much as he liked watching them. He tore up the basketball court, earning him the nickname “Smokey.” He also participated in pool, golf, bowling, and fast-pitch softball leagues. His favorite teams to cheer on were the Packers and Brewers. He enjoyed going to Country Fest and Country Jam. He attended the first Country Fest and never missed one for 20 years. He loved spending time with family and friends and going on a “walkabout.”
He had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit that could bring a smile to anyone's face. Dale loved sharing a good joke and making those around him laugh, leaving his family and friends with many fond memories.
Dale is survived by his wife, Char; children, Mark (Patty), Brian, and Dawn (Sam Shackleton); brother, Clayt (Nancy); grandchildren, Nicole, Kayla (Blake), Dalton (Elizabeth), Abbigail (Riley), and Noah (Jordyn); and bonus granddaughter, Jessica (Matt). He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Aria, Lucy, Elena, and Charlee; sister-in-law, Delores Masterson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Joann Einum; nieces, nephews, cousins; and his beloved companions, Muffy and Ralph.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude; brother, Ronald; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lutz and Emma Einum; brothers-in-law, Len Einum and Kurt Rathjen; and sisters-in-law, Rosie Einum, Berniece Einum, and Mary Rathjen.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI.
Burial will take place at Mamre Cemetery in the town of Menomonie at a later date.
