Boil advisory lifted for most of city

The City of Menomonie is providing the following afternoon update regarding the water system:
The Precautionary Boil/Bottle Water Advisory has been lifted for most of the City of Menomonie (see #2). Results from testing indicated that all but one sample came back negative (which is good) for coliform bacteria.
A new Boil/Bottle Water Advisory has been issued for the municipal water system on Grand View Heights Court and Meadow Hill Drive (west of Wilson Creek) that includes a notification of a positive (which is bad) test result for coliform bacteria on Grand View Heights Court. This does not impact residents on private wells. This does not impact the remainder of the municipal water system.
City crews will be going door to door on Grand View Heights Court and Meadow Hill Drive (west of Wilson Creek) to deliver a copy of the new Boil/Bottle Water Advisory for that area and ten (10) cases of bottled water to each household.
After a Boil/Bottle Water Advisory is lifted, residents are advised to flush cold water through all fixtures used for human consumption for five (5) minutes. Healthcare, commercial and industrial users should follow their own industry specific precautions. The City requests that flushing activities be stretched out over several hours in large facilities to avoid stress on an already stressed system.
Although no longer required, bottled water will remain available for pickup by all City Residents through 7 pm today (Friday) at the Community Services Shop at 621 11th Avenue West (near the STH 29 Red Cedar River bridge). If you are unable to drive or carry a case of water, please contact Megen Hines at 715.232.2221 ext 1005 to request delivery.
The full irrigation ban remains in effect until August 1, 2026. City crews have, and will continue to, provide written warnings to those who continue to irrigate.
As a precaution, City crews are canvassing the water system looking for potential leaks. If residents see flowing water in an odd location (e.g. not Galloway Creek), please contact the City.
Additional updates will be provided on Saturday morning, Sunday morning, and Monday morning.
For continued updates as information becomes available, the City is sharing emergency communications through multiple official channels, including:
• The City of Menomonie's website and social media pages
• Local news media
• Dunn County Emergency Communications' CodeRED notification system
• The City of Menomonie's Notify Me notification system
Residents are encouraged to sign up for both free notification services to receive emergency alerts by phone, text, or email.
