City of Menomonie update regarding water system - July 18th

The City of Menomonie provides the following Saturday update regarding the water system: 

As previously announced, the Precautionary Boil/Bottle Water Advisory has been lifted for most of the City of Menomonie (see #2).  

A Boil/Bottle Water Advisory remains in effect for the municipal water system on Grand  View Heights Court and Meadow Hill Drive (west of Wilson Creek). A second test was taken yesterday and will be read today. A third test will be taken today and read tomorrow afternoon. Any changes to the remaining Boil/Bottle Water Advisory will be issued in a press release like this one.  

The City’s three elevated water towers are approximately two-thirds full. Water pressures throughout the City are now within normal operating range. 

The full lawn irrigation ban remains in effect until August 1, 2026. City crews have, and will continue to, provide written warnings to those who continue to irrigate lawns,  although the number has tapered off as information has spread. Last night’s rain was both timely and appreciated.  

As a precaution, City crews remain on the lookout for possible leaks. The City’s water  system includes approximately 100 miles of water main pipes that are buried approximately 8 feet in the ground. Leaks (if any) should have come to the surface by  now, but sandy soils in portions of the City could hide a smaller leak. If residents see flowing water in an odd location (e.g. not Galloway Creek), please contact the City.
