The Menomonie City Council approved extending the full lawn irrigation ban until October 31, 2026, at its meeting on Monday, August 17th.

There are several exemptions from the full lawn irrigation ban, including:

  1. Watering cans, handheld sprayers, drip irrigation, and soaker hoses may be used.

  2. New lawn areas may be irrigated for up to 28 days to allow for establishment.

  3. Outdoor sport fields may be irrigated.

  4. Non-municipal water sources (i.e. private wells or surface waters) may be used.

The full lawn irrigation ban does not apply to flower gardens, vegetable gardens, and trees, only lawn areas.

If residents or businesses have questions about the full lawn irrigation ban or its exemptions,  they should contact David Schofield, Director of Public Works at 715.232.2221 Ext. 1020 or  dschofield@menomonie-wi.gov.
