City of Menomonie final update regarding low pressure event

The City of Menomonie provides the following final update regarding the Low-Pressure Event: 

As previously announced, all Boil/Bottle Water Advisories have been lifted in the City of Menomonie as of Sunday, July 19. 

The City’s three water towers have been completely filled and are working normally. 

The full lawn irrigation ban has been extended until Tuesday, August 18. On Monday, July 20, the City Council approved extending the full lawn irrigation ban until Tuesday, August 18, to allow for rest time for overworked wells and completion of leak detection surveys. City crews have provided 32 written warnings since the ban was enacted, although the number has tapered off as information has spread.  

As a precaution, City crews remain on the lookout for possible leaks. The City’s water system includes about 100 miles of water main pipes that are buried about 8 feet below the surface. Leaks usually come to the surface quickly, but sandy soils found in some portions of the City could hide a smaller leak. If residents see flowing water in an odd location (e.g. not Galloway Creek), please contact the City.
