The Community Foundation of Dunn County (CFDC) is pleased to offer a scholarship opportunity for non-traditional students who wish to further their education.

The Dr. James and Gail Haemmerle Scholarship, established at the CFDC in March 2022, continues to provide life-changing educational opportunities for non-traditional students. This scholarship offers full tuition support to economically disadvantaged students pursuing an associate degree, technical diploma, or certificate program in any field of study.

Non-traditional students are defined as individuals who did not enroll in college immediately following high school or who have not yet completed their education beyond high school. Preference is given to applicants whose educational paths have been impacted by challenges such as food insecurity, language barriers, limited access to technology, or financial instability.

The scholarship is designed to support individuals returning to school after a break, completing a previously started program, or gaining the credentials needed to transition into a new career.

“We strongly believe that education is the key that unlocks the door to success in life,” said the Haemmerles. “Generous support from others made our own educational journeys possible, and this scholarship is our way of paying that forward. We hope recipients will take this opportunity seriously and, when they are able, help create similar opportunities for others.”

The scholarship is awarded annually to a qualified applicant attending an accredited community or technical college. The award may provide support for up to five years, helping remove financial barriers and allowing students to focus on their education.
