Carol A. Saxton (Miller), 90, of Menomonie, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born at home in the Town of Lucas, Dunn County, WI on August 2, 1935. Carol was the seventh of eleven children born to Henry and Eda (Thompson) Miller.

Carol was set up on a blind date with Marvin Saxton in 1951 by friends and they married on January 3, 1952. After marriage, Carol had a number of various jobs in addition to working on the farm. Her most important role, however, was that of Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma. She cherished the time she spent with family, whether celebrating holidays or cheering them on at school and sporting events.

Carol spent countless hours baking homemade sandwich bread and cookies, gardening, bowling, making ceramics and playing cards and Bingo. Her family can attest; there are four things that no one will ever make as good as Mom/Grandma: Rice Krispie bars, potato salad, sugar cookies and peanut butter frosting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, baby daughter; six brothers, Virgil, Marvin “Bud”, Arlo, Lester, Donald and Roger; and three sisters, Bette, Doris, June, and Donna.

Carol is survived by her son, Steve (Janet) Saxton of Menomonie; daughters Berta (Tom) Kuehn of Eau Claire, and Marcia (David) Curry of Elk Mound; grandchildren Jason Saxton, Jarred (Jamie) Saxton, Angela (Corey) Bowen, Trish (Matt) Jasperson, Chad (Victoria) Curry and great grandchildren, Jada, Savannah and Kali Saxton, Izzy Bowen, Grayden and Sawyer Jasperson, Jonah and Juliette Curry. She is further survived by her brother John Miller.

A few years ago, she was asked what she was most proud of, she said “the family I grew up in and the family I have had since.”

She leaves behind special friends Betty Nielsen, Sylvie Proudlock and Amanda Oebser. In addition, Carol will be remembered by many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Little Elk Creek Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI with Pastor Bethany Walker officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Forest Center Cemetery in the Town of Spring Brook, Dunn County, WI.
