Andrew "Andy" Scott Johnson

Andrew “Andy” Scott Johnson, age 32, of Menomonie, WI, passed away on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

He was born on May 17th, 1994, in Menomonie, WI, to Scott and Heidi Johnson. He grew up in the Menomonie area, attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School, and graduated from Menomonie High School in 2012.

During high school and after his military service, Andrew worked as a feed mill operator at Prairie Ag Supply in Rusk. He served in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Machinist’s Mate (Submariner) aboard the USS Albany (SSN-753) from 2013 to 2019, achieving the rate of MMN2. His naval service included completing the Navy’s Nuclear Power Training Command Pipeline, one of the most academically demanding and high-pressure training programs in the U.S. military. After returning home from his naval service, Andrew attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout, graduating in 2025 with a B.S. in Food Science & Technology and was currently enrolled in graduate studies towards his M.S. in Food Science & Technology.

Andy had many unique hobbies and passions throughout his life. He enjoyed classic country music, Cadillacs, riding his Harley, The Dukes of Hazzard, working on his family’s hobby farm, and especially tending to his goats and chickens.

He was very active and involved at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie. He was a devoted follower of Christ and was always eager to talk to others about his faith in Jesus. Andy had an incredible ability to turn any stranger into an immediate friend. He carried no bias or judgment toward anyone and welcomed people exactly as they were. If you ran into Andy, you had better set aside an hour of your time, because he never left anything unsaid. Yet you would walk away from every conversation with a guaranteed smile on your face. His ability to connect with people and make them feel welcome was truly one of a kind.

In keeping with Andy’s generous spirit, his final act of kindness was giving the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.

Andrew is survived by his mother, Heidi Johnson of Boyceville, and his father, Scott (Rebecca) Johnson of Burnet, TX. He is also survived by his brothers Robert (Allison) Johnson of Eau Claire and Mason Johnson of Boyceville; his niece Kylie Knutson and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lionel and Mary Kegen; his paternal grandparents, Orville and Jean Johnson; his uncles, Timothy, Michael, and Jeffrey; his aunt, Pamela; and his beloved pet, his Ayam Cemani chicken, “Rooster."

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9th at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a brief viewing at 10:00 a.m on Thursday, September 10th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI. A luncheon will be held at St Paul’s Lutheran Church after the funeral services. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Menomonie, WI with Military Honors preformed by Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of gifts, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran School in his name.
