Valerene Evelyn Johnson (nee Donnelly) born on April 22, 1934, to James Keith and Alta (Gardiner) Donnelly, passed away on May 2, 2026. Val grew up on the farm with 9 siblings. She graduated from Dunn County Normal High School (Aggie). She married the love of her life, Kenneth Leroy Johnson, on December 15, 1952. They began married life on the Johnson home farm. Stepping Stones launches restoration efforts after Christmas Day fire at Broadway Shelter
Following an accidental fire that damaged three apartment units at Stepping Stones of Dunn County family shelter on Broadway Street, the organization is now moving forward with recovery efforts. Stepping Stones Shelter program serves over 200 individuals each year, including adults and children, and provided over ten thousand nights of shelter in 2025.
