Tyler C. Hartung, age 41 of Menomonie, Wisconsin, passed unexpectedly on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Eau Claire due to natural causes.
Tyler was born on May 31, 1985, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He was the son of Charles Hartung and Mary Jane (Brunner) Duke, and brother of Erin (Hartung) Soules. Tyler grew up in Eau Galle and Menomonie, WI and graduated from Menomonie High School in 2003. He then went on to pursue a degree from Brown College in Minnesota.
Although Tyler may not have had children of his own, he embraced his role as an uncle with his whole heart. His nieces and nephews were a treasured part of his life, and he took every opportunity to make memories with them. Whether he was stopping by for an unexpected visit, helping around his sister's house, or sharing a meal together, Tyler's love for his family was evident in everything he did.
Tyler worked as a Team Lead at Anderson Windows for 19 years where he developed numerous strong bonds with his work family. His dedication, reliability, and willingness to help others made him more than a coworker - he became a trusted friend. His work family will greatly miss his presence, and the example he set every day.
As an avid Packers fan, Tyler loved sharing his passion for football with his nephews, including going to games together and coaching their teams. However, when it came to fantasy football, his nephews may argue they were the ones doing the coaching! Fishing was one of Tyler's favorite pastimes, but nothing compared to a day out on the ice. Tyler loved exploring local breweries, often road tripping and adding a growler from each stop to his collection.
Though Tyler's time here was far too short, the love his parents have for him will endure forever.
Tyler is survived by his parents, Mary Jane (Brunner) Duke of Menomonie and Charles Hartung of Eau Galle, sister, Erin (Pat) Soules of Menomonie, nephews, Preston and Grayson Soules, nieces, Everly and Audrey Soules, as well as many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Wayne and Delores Hartung, and Raymond and Lorraine Brunner, and his stepfather, Claude Duke.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 3-7 pm at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI. A celebration of Tyler's life will be held at a later date, to be determined. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, laugh, reminisce, and raise a glass in his memory.
Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Menomonie, is serving the family.
